This major legislation updates requirements dating back to 1938 and has broad-sweeping consequences for manufacturers, processors, and ultimately, consumers.

While some provisions of the law can be implemented quickly, others will take several years for development, discussion and deliberation, and issuance in the form of regulation, standards, and industry guides.
