The Education Unit of ATINER organizes a Stream on “Faculty Development: Teaching and Learning Strategies in the Global College Classroom” as part of the 2nd Annual International Symposium on “Higher Education in a Global World”, 9-12 July 2018, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of Education.
The aim of this stream is to bring together a globally diverse set of academics, practitioners, and researchers that are conducting research on faculty development in the area of teaching and learning. Teaching in higher education is not all about “covering the course content, but rather about enhancing students’ learning” (Stes at al., p.100, 2007). The stream explores faculty development related to teaching effectiveness while integrating culture and diversity. This stream will also welcome papers that examine communication strategies between instructors and students that link to student learning in higher education setting. Fields of study for this stream are faculty development, instructional communication, in service training in higher education, effective teaching and learning, teacher evaluation, and adult education. You may participate as a presenter of one paper, chair a session or observer.
Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/2018fees.
Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized: A pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Mycanae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, an one-day visit to Delphi and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit. Details of the social program are available here.

In 2012, the Association launched a series of conference paper publications (click here), and at the beginning of 2014, it introduced its own series of Journals (click here).
