A smart city is defined as the ability to integrate multiple technological solutions in a secure fashion to manage the city’s assets. It uses information and communication technologies to enhance quality, performance and interactivity of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption and to improve contact between citizens and government.
Construction of smart city is one of the direction of international economic development in the near future. The development of city and public service can not be separated from the information technology. At present, smart city becomes the main direction of the urban informatization. Cloud computing technology, which is gradually mature, will also improve the smart city’s big data analysis capabilities. At the same time, information security has become the strategic focus of the smart city construction.
This workshop focuses on the field of smart city planning and design, and how to rely on the information technology tools to improve the following city’s assets: local departments information systems, schools, libraries, transportation systems, hospitals, power plants, law enforcement, and other community services. It tries to analyze smart city, from the aspects of big data, cloud computing, information security and so on. And then, it aims to give some suggestions about smart city, for example, how to improve public services and public security.
