Open data refers to the freely available of data. People can use the opened data without restrictions. Similar to open source, open access, and some others, Open Data aims to foster the open and the use of data, especially government data. Governments usually own, generate, and collect data. The data can be and should be opened for public use. Open Data is not a brand new concept. However, the term “Open Data” itself is a new terminology. Government around the world have launched their open-data government initiatives and their open data portals to open their data.
This workshop focuses on the research issues about Open Data. The workshop aims to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange research results and share development experiences on Open Data.
We invite you to submit research idea, research findings, theoretical discussion, insights, frameworks, and cases concerning Open Data. The scope of this workshop is only limited by the imagination of Open Data researchers. Different research approaches including technical, conceptual, political, strategic, organizational, behavioral, economic, and social perspectives are all encouraged. Submissions should contribute to the movement of Open Data.
