Special Issue on "Understanding Migration Patterns and Migrant Experiences in Asia"
In today’s post-globalised world, understanding patterns of human mobility is key for policymakers, development experts and urban practitioners to create relevant strategies for human survival and development.
Complex economic and political reasons fuel migration patterns within Asia as well as to and from the continent. Asian nations are host to over 30% of the world’s international migrants . The intensity of internal migration in Asian nations like China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam, has also been of particular concern. Increases in temporary and circular migration as well as the growth in the number of women migrating for work are indicative of broad socio-economic shifts that deserve closer monitoring.
We solicit papers that address:
Estimates and trends of internal and international migration in Asia, linkages between urbanisation, migration and labour markets, destination experiences of migrants including access to services and jobs, portability of entitlements, gendered migration, , forced migration and migrant rights, legal frameworks related to migration, migrants' assimilation/contestation with the host society etc.
The selected papers will be published in the March 2017 special issue of the journal. Authors interested in contributing papers may refer to the guidelines for submitting manuscript at http://eua.sagepub.com/
The manuscript may be emailed to the Editor at dkundu-AT-niua.org by
30th September 2016.
