C2M:EEMDD 2010 - From code centric to model centric: Evaluating the effectiveness of MDD (C2M:EEMDD)

Despite many purported benefits of Model-Driven Development (MDD), some companies succeed with the use of MDD whereas others fail. There are many anecdotes of massive success of MDD but also stories of companies trying MDD who ultimately fail to adopt it. This workshop will bring together companies and researchers to understand why some companies fail and some succeed, and to attempt to understand what factors lead to each outcome. The workshop is interested in both the technical factors that affect MDD adoption and also the organizational or social factors. The workshop will be heavily focused on industry participation and will give both academia and industry a chance to share experiences, to investigate evaluation methods, and to work towards the definition of a roadmap for research in this area.

This workshop is the successor of the Fourth Workshop "From code centric to model centric software engineering: Practices, Implications and ROI" (C2M2009), which took place in collaboration with the European Conference on Model Driven Architecture - Foundation and Application (ECMDA-FA) on 24th of June 2009. This year's edition will again take place in collaboration with the ECMFA (Formerly the ECMDA-FA series of conferences) (http://www.ecmfa-2010.org/) in June , 2010, at the University Pierre & Marie Curie, Paris, France.

The workshop aims to provide a forum for sharing experience and discussing the usage of MDD in different industries, with the potential for uncovering new opportunities for MDD usage and strengthening organizational practices supported by feedback from experienced industrial users. It is also the aim of this workshop to bring together people from academia and industry, who can provide their experiences and highlight new challenges in their current practice and how they envision adopting MDD.

Topics of InterestWorkshop organizers are expecting papers focused on, but not limited to, the following subjects:

Organizational and social factors affecting the evolution from code centric to model centric practices
Challenges for the successful adoption of MDD: how to address them
Measurement of successful introduction of MDD
Tools: what tools are currently available and used by the industry?
Similarities and differences of the application of MDD methodologies in different industries
Best practices for MDD introduction
Recurrent and envisaged barriers to adopting MDD
Empirical evaluation of MDD (both qualitative and quantitative studies)
Experience reports with results that are generalizable
Submission Details1.Authors are invited to submit an initial paper of no more than 12 pages. These papers should be sent by email to Terry Bailey (tbailey at vicinaycadenas.com) in PDF or DOC format. Each abstract will be reviewed by the program committee. Please refer to the Information for LNCS authors on the Springer web site (http://www.springer.com/sgw/cda/frontpage/0,11855,...).
2.Following the approval of the paper authors should submit a final, complete paper. The paper should have no more than 12 pages and should follow the Springer LNCS format (for instructions on the Springer LNCS format, please refer to Information for LNCS authors).
3.No simultaneous submission to other publication outlets (either a conference or a journal) is allowed.
