Theory and Applications of Nature-Inspired Optimization Algorithms
(Under SIS'2014 at IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, SSCI2014)
9 to 12 December 2014, Orlando, Florida, USA.
Organizers:
Xin-She Yang (School of Science and Technology, Middlesex University, UK)
Xingshi He (College of Science, Xi'an Polytechnic University, China)
Nature-inspired algorithms, especially swarm intelligence based algorithms, have become very popular in optimization and computational intelligence. New algorithms such as particle swarm optimization and firefly algorithm have demonstrated some superior advantages and have thus been applied in many areas from engineering optimization to travelling salesman problem and from image processing to data mining. Though the literature about the practical applications has expanded significantly in the last few years, theoretical studies lack behind and have started to expand.
This special session intends to provide a timely platform to exchange ideas about the following topics (but not limited to):
* Theoretical analysis of nature-inspired algorithms (e.g., cuckoo search, firefly algorithm, bat algorithm, particle swarm optimization, swarm intelligence)
* Image processing, feature selection and classification
* Combinatorial optimization and discrete problems
* Data mining
* Case studies and design optimization in engineering and industry
* Hybridization with other algorithms such as ACO, BA, CS, DE, FA, GA, PSO and others.
