Topics/Call fo Papers
Trends in Machine Learning
A Workshop -AT- Kyoto University, March 17 and 18, 2014.
Please consider joining us at the "Trends in Machine Learning" workshop that will take place at Kyoto University on March 17 - 18, 2014.
------ Scope ------
The pace of innovation in machine learning has accelerated in recent years, reflecting an unabated demand for efficient and innovative data analysis tools. This workshop is an opportunity to discover some of the topics that have recently emerged in the field, and hear from research carried out by renowned specialists. The talks will present both an introduction to these topics and a presentation of recent research results. This workshop is open to participants of all levels and backgrounds.
------ Location ------
Kyoto University, Main Yoshida Campus,
Research Building 8, NS Lecture Hall (3rd Floor)
Building 59 on this map Detailed map
------ Talks ------
The format of the talks will be 60 minutes presentation + 10 minutes questions.
Invited talks include:
Embeddings for images: from large scale image labeling to zero-shot classification, by Samy BENGIO (Google, Mountain View)
Learning with Algebraic Manifolds, by Amir GLOBERSON (Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
Parametric submodular optimization for machine learning, by Yoshinobu KAWAHARA (Osaka University)
Collaborative Matrix Factorization for Predicting Drug-Target Interactions, by Hiroshi MAMITSUKA (Kyoto University)
Deep Boosting, by Mehryar MOHRI (New York University)
Timing It Just Right: Learning and Optimization of High Dimensional Event Cascades, by Le SONG (Georgia Tech)
Safe Sample Screening for SVM and Its Extension to Validation Error Bound Computation, by Ichiro TAKEUCHI (Nagoya Institute of Technology)
Towards better computation-statistics trade-off in tensor decomposition, by Ryota TOMIOKA (Toyota Technological Institute at Chicago)
