LiUD 2014 - International Workshop on Linking User Data (LiUD)
Topics/Call fo Papers
In this workshop, we aim to investigate the use of linked data for the benefit of user modeling, the new opportunities that are offered by the associated techniques, as well as the new challenges that open web data creates in this area of research.
The use of external, open resources is becoming increasingly important for the tasks of interlinking user profiles, disambiguating them and enriching them. With the growth of web data ? data published following the linked data principles ? such information resources are becoming more and more accessible, connectable and exploitable.
There are various examples of research on adaptive service selection and composition for personalization in the UMAP community. Still, there are several challenges to overcome, including:
integrating distributed data from heterogeneous repositories
metadata mediation and transformation
enrichment and interlinking of unstructured metadata
integration of personal and social data
We aim to bring together researchers who are investigating these challenges, and demonstrate successful use of techniques such as the ones listed above for creating, manipulating and exploiting user profiles that are interlinked with external web information sources.
We specifically encourage the submission of (live) demos, prototypes and proofs of concept. In addition, we welcome two-page vision papers as input for the discussion session.
