Turkish Social Sciences Association and Middle East Technical University (METU) are pleased to invite you to the “IV. World Congress for Middle East Studies” (WOCMES), to be held at METU in Ankara, Turkey from 18th to 22nd August, 2014. The World Congress seeks to address questions, exchange and explore information on Middle East in the broadest sense. Scholars, researchers, experts and students involving in the study of Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia are invited to submit their proposals for panel, papers and roundtables for the Fourth World Congress.
The principal themes followed since the First World Congress have been retained in WOCMES 2014:
Ancient Middle East
Historical Approaches
Islam in Past and Present
Christian and Biblical Studies
Urban Studies and Space
Water and the Environment
Economics of the Middle East
Politics of the Middle East
Women and Gender Studies
Normative Phenomena and Legal Research
Migration Studies
Media and Cultural Studies
Linguistics and Literature
Nationality, Identities and Ethnicity
Panels and papers that do not fall within the boundaries of these themes are of course welcome.
Individuals who wish to attend WOCMES 2014 are expected to submit their abstracts by December 15, 2013. All submission should be done via the abstractModule submission system.
The submission module will be activated as of September 15, 2013. Abstracts for individual papers and panels must be limited to 400 words.
