Scope
The Wireless Communications Symposium will focus on topics related to all aspects of physical layer, MAC layer,
cross-layer, and physical layer-related network analysis and design. Of special interests are papers reporting on
novel and practical solutions to physical layer and cross-layer design in wireless communication systems, field tests
and measurements, and applications. To ensure complete coverage of the advances in wireless communications
technologies for current and future systems, the Wireless Communications Symposium presents original
contributions in, but not limited to, the following topical areas:
? Wireless channel modeling
? Channel detection and estimation
? Smart antennas and beamforming
? Cognitive radio and software defined radio
? Modulation, coding, and diversity techniques for wireless communications
? Interference cancellation and mitigation techniques
? MIMO and multi-antenna communications
? Space-time coding and processing
? OFDM, multi-carrier, and advanced single-carrier systems
? CDMA, TDMA, FDMA air interfaces

Short biography of co-chairs Kejie Lu
Dr. Kejie Lu received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in Telecommunications Engineering from Beijing University of
Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing, China, in 1994 and 1997, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in
Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2003. Since July 2005, he has been a faculty
member in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Dr.
Kejie Lu’s research interests include architecture and protocols design for computer and communication networks,
performance analysis, network security, and wireless communications. Dr. Kejie Lu has many experience organizing
international conferences. He served as the TPC co-chair of ISWPC 2007, Track chair of the Information Assurance
and Security (IAS) track in IEEE MILCOM 2007 and IEEE MILCOM 2008, Track co-chair of Mobile / Wireless
Applications and Services track at IEEE VTC2008-Spring, Symposium co-chair of the Wireless Communications
Symposium in ICCCAS 2009, and the leading Symposium co-chair of the Communication and Information System
Security (CISS) symposium in IEEE Globecom 2010 and IEEE ICC 2013. Dr. Kejie Lu is a senior member of
IEEE.
Rongxing Lu
Dr. Rongxing Lu received the Ph.D degree in computer science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai,
China in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree (awarded Canada Governor General Gold Medal) in electrical and computer
engineering from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, in 2012. Since May 2012, he has been
with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, as a Postdoctoral Fellow. He
will join the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, as an
Assistant Professor, in the late of April, 2013. His research interests include computer, network and communication
security, applied cryptography, security and privacy analysis for vehicular network, eHealthcare system, and smart
grid communications. He was one recipient of the Best Paper Awards of the International Conference on Body Area
Networks (BodyNets 2010), the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks
(ICCCN 2009), and the International Conference on Communications and Networking in China (Chinacom 2008).
Meilong Jiang
Dr. Meilong Jiang received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in
2006. He is currently a Senior Research Staff with InterDigital Communications focusing on technology
development for future cellular systems including 3D MIMO and beamforming, active antenna systems, small cells
and heterogeneous networks etc. Before joining InterDigital, he had conducted various researches on MIMO/OFDM
based signal processing, cross-layer radio resource allocation and efficient cloud-RAN etc with NEC Laboratories
America, Columbia University and University of Washington, respectively. He serves as IEEE WCNC 2013 PHY
track co-chair, IEEE WOCC 2013 Publicity Chair and has been a TPC member/session chair/reviewer for various
journals and conferences. Dr. Jiang is a Senior Member of IEEE.
