The Taiwan GNSS Workshop is a half-day business event on the 6th November 2012 in parallel with the ITSI-2012 conference. The purpose of this workshop is for academic and industrial experts from Europe and Taiwan to share information on the GNSS applications sectors and to finalize strategy for Taiwan's GNSS industry and business approach.
Participants will include the EU experts, European Commission funded GNSS.asia project experts, EU representatives, as well as guests from private companies in Taiwan. The workshop will be of interest to people engaged in the GNSS downstream sector and its support services.
GNSS.asia project
The GNSS.asia project is officially launched in January 2012 with an aim to support the European Commission in developing and implementing a global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) strategy between the EU and five Asian countries in the GNSS downstream sector. The project is funded by European Union within the Seventh Framework Programme. The consortium combining regional teams from India, China, Taiwan, Korea and Japan, will implement the project on behalf of the European GNSS Agency (GSA), supervised by the European Commission. The GNSS.asia consortium includes a network of experts, consultants and European Chambers of Commerce based in Asia, mainly relying on the European Business Organisation (EBO) worldwide network.
The GNSS market is the market of products and services using GNSS based positioning and navigation as a significant enabler. The worldwide GNSS market is growing fast and revenues are expected to increase at a 11% CAGR over the next decade. The total enabled GNSS market size in 2020 is estimated at ?244 billion, the core GNSS market size is estimated at ?165 billion. The GNSS segments of Road, Location based service (LBS), Agriculture and Aviation represent the largest volume of users and/or public benefits in the GNSS global market.
The GNSS.asia project has set objectives to define a strategy for the industrial cooperation between the EU and Asian countries, ensure the development and promotion of the Galileo programme, recommend and start to develop GNSS-related industrial cooperation, as well as support piloting and implementation of these activities. In Taiwan, the ECCT, its Technology committee and members are driving forces behind the project, bringing their own experience, network and industrial cooperation expertise to make the project a sustainable success.
Presenting a global market share of 85% of the production of portable navigation devices, Taiwan is a gateway to the Asian markets for European and regional investors in the GNSS field. We are committed to develop Industrial cooperation between the EU and Taiwan and ensure long-term effects for high-technology industry development, job creation and economic growth.
The GNSS.asia Project is funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme grant agreement No. 287244
