WMHLH 2012 - First International Workshop on Wireless Mesh Networking for Human and Livestock Healthcare
Topics/Call fo Papers
Wireless mesh networked communication infrastructure has the ability to change the topology dynamically and assure the reliable communications when the users are mobile. This has been proved very useful in delivering high quality services in human and livestock healthcare. The healthcare requirements in human beings and livestock share some similarities while wireless mesh networked architecture is applied, for example, traditional wireless mesh networks developed for communications for complex application scenarios are not suitable for healthcare, the possible harmness of the wireless radios to the human beings and animals should be considered, the design of antennas and transceivers should consider the special characteristics of human and animal bodies, strict security requirement, low power sensors, and so on. Research and development and applications of wireless mesh networking in human and livestock healthcare are still facing technical challenges. The objective of this workshop is to bring the researchers from academia and industry, medical professionals and patients, farmers and veterinarians to discuss the challenges, share experience and skills in research and development, and demonstrate successful applications.
We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the above topics short papers on work in progress, and panel proposals.
Industrial presentations are not subject to the format and content constraints of regular submissions. We expect short and long presentations that express industrial position and status.
Tutorials on specific related topics and panels on challenging areas are encouraged.
The topics suggested by the conference can be discussed in term of concepts, state of the art, research, standards, implementations, running experiments, applications, and industrial case studies. Authors are invited to submit complete unpublished papers, which are not under review in any other conference or journal in the following, but not limited to, topic areas.
All topics are open to both research and industry contributions.
Topics:
New radio technologies for around human and livestock communications
Mesh networking protocols and algorithms for healthcare
Antenna and transceiver design for healthcare
Energy efficient protocols and architecture
Implanted and wearable sensor design and sensor communications for healthcare
Sustainable design of networks and devices
Applications of wireless mesh networks for healthcare
Cognitive mesh networks for healthcare
Secure networking for healthcare
Standards of applying wireless networks for healthcare
INSTRUCTION FOR THE AUTHORS
Authors of selected papers will be invited to submit extended versions to one of the IARIA Journals.
