Topics/Call fo Papers

In the tradition of the highly successful SRL workshops and Dagstuhl
seminars in the past, SRL-2012 again will be an important venue for
bringing together different sub-disciplines that focus on the
probabilistic analysis of relational data. So far, several novel
insights into and useful approaches to SRL have been already provided.
For instance, several different types of models and corresponding
inference and parameter estimation approaches have been developed.
Recently, there has also been a surge in interest in learning the
structure of SRL models -- an important and challenging task.
Still, there are many open problems and challenges lying ahead. How to
deal with continuous variables? Or even hybrid models? What about
distributed SRL? How do we lift inference? How do we lift learning? Is
lifting beneficial for models traditionally considered to be
propositional such as Ising and Potts models? How do we deal with
evolving environments? What are the next killer applications? Is it
computer vision or is it bio-medicine? Which lessons can SRL learn
from other, related communities?
Therefore, we would like to encourage submissions to the following
(not exclusive) list of topics that are centered around theoretical,
algorithmic, and implementional aspects of SRL:
sample complexity results
probabilistic programming
mapping between different SRL approaches
unifying approaches
parameter estimation and model selection approaches
lifted inference
statistical predicate invention
nonparametric (Bayesian) approaches
relational decision theoretic planning and reinforcement learning
learning complex actions
semi-supervised relational learning
preference learning
clustering relational data
systems and toolboxes
Last but not least, we would like to especially encourage people to
submit CHALLENGE papers, describing one or more technical challenges
for the SRL community, as well as APPLICATION papers, describing
show-case applications of SRL.
Submission Details:
We invite both short and long papers and the length of the papers can
be between 2-6 pages in ICML format. The review is not blind. Since
this is a workshop, we also invite papers that have been published in
other conferences such as AAAI, ICML, IJCAI, UAI, ...
The papers will be selected either for a short oral presentation or a
poster presentation. The workshop will include a 2 hour poster session
to allow enough time for the attendees to interact with each other.
