WTMS 2012 - International Workshop on Web 2.0 Tools, Methodology and Services
Topics/Call fo Papers
The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers from Social Networks and Web 2.0 with approaches different from Intelligent Tutoring Systems by encouraging them to offer for a more significant contribution in order to improve the quality of ITS.
Artificial Intelligence Researchers are using "intelligent" approaches to facilitate teaching and learning, E-learning specialists use their methodology to enhance learning, Social researches study the conditions that may influence collaborative learning communities of students and teachers online, Semantic Web researchers exploit computable semantics in order to extract meaning automatically and use it to build e-courses or to answer to complex questions posed by learners, finally the Web Science movement supports a vision where the Web consists of societies of humans and machines that need to be studied before conceiving and developing infrastructures and application expected to be useful for many purposes, in particular human learning. Additionally, Web 2.0 concrete applications are becoming rapidly more and more important for students and teacher as well. On this vein, we want to focus on the services that the Web can provide and will provide for learning and teaching by studying current practices and conceiving new ones within a in a transdisciplinary approach.
The main goal of this workshop is to develop a vision for ITS based on Social Network learning and to discuss the state-of-the-art, open problems, challenges and innovative research approaches in adaptation and personalization for Social Network learning with ITS. It intends to explore the promises of the Web 2.0 in the broad area of ITS by gathering researchers from the areas of Semantic Web, Social Web, E-Learning, Collaborative Learning, Adaptive Learning, Agent techniques, Machine Learning, pedagogy and education.
This workshop wishes to encourage researchers formally specialists in diverse domains, to adopt a holistic vision in order to disseminate each other their answers to questions such as, for instance:
1. How do we use Web 2.0 services to enhance ITS?
2. How do we use Web Science to enhance learning?
3. How do we merge Web 2.0, and Semantics Web to enhance learning methodology?
4. What are the most effective tools, models, techniques, and services to support learning with Web 2.0 learners?
5. How do we use personalization methodologies to support ITS with Web 2.0 environments?
Original papers related to the design, implementation and evaluation of ITS based on Web 2.0, Semantic Web, and Web Science are solicited.
