Workshop on Modern Methods of Softcomputing in Industrial Optimization (MMSIO 2012)
Industrial optimization is one of the most important areas of modern optimization tools. Some of the modern and recent methods are evolutionary algorithms (EAs). Differential Evolution, Particle Swarm (Swarm Intelligence), Scatter Search, Genetic algorithms and Self-Organizing Migrating Algorithm, amongst others. Other techniques, such as Genetic Programming, Grammatical Evolution or similar techniques, are widely used today in order to get elegant solutions of serious industrial and environmental problems. Examples of such problems can be seen in ordinary world around us and of course in almost every science discipline, including such domains like the metal industry, transportation, energy production and distribution, automotive industry, aviation industry, environmental modeling for example.
Industrial and environmental problems usually suffer by big complexity that is based on fact, that real world problems contain a lot of unknown variables, constraints, noise, uncertainty, etc. Often the methods of softcomputing provide attractive alternatives in solving such kind of problems.
This workshop will establish a forum for the presentation and discussion of recent trends in the area of use of modern softcomputing methods for researchers, students, academics and mainly for the experts from the industrial area.
The Workshop topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
Industrial and environmental applications of optimization in fields like:
metal industry
transportation
energy production and distribution
automotive industry
aviation industry
environmental modelling
...
Modern optimization approaches like
differential evolution
swarm intelligence (ants, termites, bees, wasps…)
genetic programming, grammatical evolution and similar techniques
hybridization of modern and classical optimization methods
multi-objective and multi-constraint optimization
...
Design of technological devices
Theoretical issues of industrial optimization
optimization approaches for industrial optimization
complexity of industrial problems in space and time
parallel and distributed optimization in industry
