On behalf of the Organising Committee I have the pleasure of inviting you to the 12th FELASA and 12th SECAL joint Congress entitled: ‘Moving Research from animals to patients: Laboratory Animal Science to the service of humans, animals and the environment’ to be held June 10-13, 2013 in Barcelona, Spain. The venue of the Congress is the International Convention Center of Barcelona (CCIB) located on the sea front of Barcelona.
Every 3 years, FELASA, the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations, organises its Congress. This time it is the Spanish Association SECAL that has the privilege of organising the largest Laboratory Animal Science meeting in Europe. It is a happy coincidence that for both organisations this will be their 12th congress.
The FELASA Congress will concentrate over a thousand scientists and other professionals from all over the world. The programme will cover both scientific and practical aspects of all the topics of interest for those working in this field. The perspective will be to focus on the end beneficiary of research and how we can provide all the necessary elements that will allow us to continue improving the welfare of both animals and people.
There will be state-of-the-art plenary presentations and your abstracts for oral presentations and posters are warmly welcomed. The FELASA Congress is an excellent forum for the discussion of our research and for finding solutions to our problems. In addition to scientific sessions, workshops and round table discussions, with interactive participation, will be included in the program. CCIB has a large exhibition hall, which allows excellent and spacious accommodation for all those companies wishing to exhibit their up-to-date equipment, technology and services.
We have also prepared an interesting evening social programme to entertain you and give you the opportunity to meet old colleagues and make new friends.
Barcelona is a large city full of interesting things to do, from visiting unique museums and buildings to sun bathing on the beach. The temperature in June is a pleasant 20 -25 ºC. If possible, plan your stay with a few extra days to enjoy the city.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Barcelona.
Patri Vergara
Chair of the Congress
