Special Issues on Dependable Software Systems"
This special issue recognises the outstanding contributions to the development of computer science made by Professor Brian Randell over a fifty-year career, and in particular his pioneering and continuing work over the last 40 years on the development of dependable computing systems. Contributions that further develop work in any of the areas to which Brian has contributed will be particularly appreciated. These include ? but are not restricted to -
Atomic actions; computer security; concurrent systems; distributed systems; exception handling; fault tolerance and error recovery; safety critical systems; software design.
Submission Guidelines
Contributions should be formatted according to the journal style and submitted via the Computer Journal’s online submission system, Manuscript Central, at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/compj.
Submissions should be accompanied by a covering letter that clearly states that the submission is for the Special Issue on Dependable Computing Systems.
All papers will be reviewed on the basis of originality, quality and relevance to this Special Issue and the journal. To aid in the appointment of referees those intending to submit are asked to provide an early indication of the proposed title of their contribution.

Submission deadline: 1 December 2011
Acceptance Notification: 15 January 2012
Final Papers Due: 15 February 2012
Publication Date: late 2012 (advanced electronic publication occurs upon acceptance of a paper)
