Overview
Emotional Intelligence is a set of emotional and social skills that establish how well we perceive and express ourselves, develop and maintain social relationships, cope with challenges and engage in life in an effective and meaningful way. Since some of the smartest people I know lack EI (or its measurement on tests EQ) I am sharing several of my observations and experiences with them. One can be brilliant and successful professionally while at the same time struggling to be socially accepted.
This course explores several aspects of EI/EQ and offers enough descriptions to enable the listener to self-identify and decide which of the elements needs self-improvement. It is also a useful tool for management in its quest to be as useful as possible to the people who report to them. We explore the different aspects of EQ and how different tests describe and measure them. We identify specific aspects and how they manifest themselves in real people and we learn to recognize ways in which our EI can be improved. Finally we discover some of the measurement tools in common usage.
