11th International Women Health Meeting ?2011?
“ Women Health and Human Rights. Let us build the Future.”
The International Women Health meeting ? IWHM ? has been for more than 30 years, an international forum of women’s grass rooted organizations, academics, and advocates that promotes women’s health, sexual and reproductive rights.
These meetings have as main objectives :
To gather women from all over the world that are fighting for women’ health and enable them to share their knowledge and experience.
To map out the world women’s health status, the risks, abuses and violence they face ; to give an overview of successes reached to change these situations and identify future actions that need to be undertaken .
To analyze how similar implemented policies and applied medical techniques have different impact in various countries and how different decisions can have similar or negative results.
To broaden and have insight debates on health indicators such as peace, social justice, work, environment, women empowerment, liberty and equal rights.
The focus axes are :
Political and social structures are often based on patriarchal, ancestral constructions that are endangering women’s health. Health should be considered as a fundamental human right.
The cultures, transmission of habits, the transfer of knowledge may sometimes have negative impact on health and particularly on women health.
Health is a vector of various representations and some of them are weakening women’s health. A feminist and global vision is necessary to improve women’s health; one of the means to achieve this is to promote “self-care”
Enforcing community networks and their role as; agents groups for exchange of knowledge and services, women health organization, women’s action’s all over the world and the political decisions that can be then taken.
Women as sole responsible of their right, in freedom and well informed, in full capacity of their civil right regardless of their marital, motherhood status.
We invite you not only to come and participate but also to inform and mobilize any individual, any organization who might show interest in women health and human rights.
