The 71st annual MPSA Conference will take place over four days from Thursday, April 11, through Sunday, April 14, 2013, at the historic Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. The oldest continuously operating hotel in North American, the Palmer House boasts a new spa and gym, a Starbucks, and cuisine from the newly opened restaurants on site.
The conference kicks off on Wednesday evening with the Welcome Reception in the world famous Empire Room. Other highlights are the reception in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday night and the President’s Reception on Saturday evening. As always, the hub of activity at the conference is the Exhibit Hall, open Thursday through Saturday. A free job placement service is available to all registered conference attendees.
Serving as Program Co-Chairs for the 2013 MPSA Conference are Amaney A. Jamal, Princeton University, and Katherine Cramer Walsh, University of Wisconsin, Madison. Proposals must be submitted online using the 2013 Participation Proposal Form, available on our website after September 1, 2012. The deadline for paper and roundtable proposals is October 5, 2012, and the deadline for poster proposals is November 30, 2012.
During the 2012 Conference, the MPSA hosted a Working Group on Cultural Theory. At this “conference within a conference,” participants attended a specific set of panels together. Participants also had the opportunity to meet together to discuss their research agendas and to collaborate. Any researcher who is interested in organizing a Working Group for the 2013 Conference should contact the MPSA Conference Director, Tamara Speelmon (email: speelmon at mpsanet dot org) for more information.
