The History Unit of ATINER, will hold a Symposium on Macedonia & Macedonians: From Trojan War to 21st Century as part of the 17th Annual International Conference on History & Archaeology: From Ancient to Modern, 3-6 June 2019, Athens, Greece sponsored by the Athens Journal of History.
The aim of the symposium is to bring together academics and researchers to discuss various issues and aspects answering the following questions:
Were Ancient Macedonians Greeks?
Was Alexander the Great Greek?
Were Alexander the Great and the Albanians Macedonians?
Can the Slavs of the area be considered as Macedonians?
Are the terms “Macedonia” and “Macedonian” a geographical description?
You may participate as a presenter of one paper, chair of a session or observer.
Fee structure information is available on www.atiner.gr/2019fees.
Special arrangements will be made with a local hotel for a limited number of rooms at a special conference rate. In addition, a number of special events will be organized, including a pragmatic symposium (as organized in Ancient Athens but fine-tuned to synchronous ethics), a special one-day educational island tour, a Myceanae and island of Poros visit, an Athens educational walking tour, a day trip to Delphi, and an ancient Corinth and Cape Sounion visit. Please include: Title of Paper, Full Name (s), Current Position, Institutional Affiliation, an email address and at least 3 keywords that best describe the subject of your submission. Decisions are reached within 4 weeks.
