The goal of the AnSWeR workshop is to trigger and strengthen the dialogue between the Semantic Web and the Robotics communities. As robots are rapidly integrating our everyday life, there is a need for them to expose the ability of dealing with different sources of knowledge about the world in order to improve their tasks, e.g. Planning, Computer Vision or Language Understanding. In the Robotics community, the problem of enabling robots to use sources of heterogeneous knowledge has started being considered recently. However, it can be argued that semantic technologies, allowing to model, mine, manage and exploit knowledge from and for the Web, should also have a role to play in this context. The AnSWeR workshop addresses these issues by studying the involvement of semantic formalisms and technologies in robotic applications, by giving the researchers and practitioners the opportunity to compare and debate on common problems, and by bridging the gap between these overlapping, but mostly isolated communities.
