According to the IULTCS statutes one of the aims of the Union is to enhance cooperation between member societies, to hold congresses to further the advancement of leather science and technology. As of today the IULTCS organization has held well over thirty Congresses in seventeen different countries on five continents.
By integrating all horizontal and vertical supply chains of the leather and tanning industry and applying industries, brands and retailers the 2019 Congress will give experts and professionals a broader and multiple view of demands, visions, innovations and goals of the various stake holders.
After Munich 1959, Hamburg 1975 and Friedrichshafen 1995, the German member association and host, VGCT, decided on Dresden as venue for the XXXV Congress. Dresden is located in the middle of the European community and well-linked to major hubs across Europe. With its picturesque and baroque setting it's said to be one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Dresden is also a modern high-tech location in the midst of Europe with special competences in microelectronics, information and communication technology as well as biotechnology and busiest research location in East Germany with numerous institutions.
