Established in 1885, the International Statistical Institute (ISI), which is administered by a permanent office in The Hague, is one of the oldest scientific associations operating in the modern world. Its success can be attributed to the worldwide demand for professional statistical information, its leadership in the development of statistical profession, and in the collective dedication of its members.
The ISI is composed of more than 2,000 elected members who are internationally recognised as the definitive leaders in the field of statistics. Its membership crosses all borders and is drawn from over 130 countries. ISI’s influence within the international statistical community is supported by the seven ISI Associations:
Bernoulli Society (BS)
International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS)
International Association for Statistical Computing (IASC)
International Association for Statistical Education (IASE)
International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS)
International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics (ISBIS)
The International Environmetrics Society (TIES)
Its objective is to promote understanding, development and good practice of statistics. The key activities of ISI are organising workshops and conferences, publishing journals and creating a platform for networking.
