The 14th International Workshop on
Atmospheric Icing of Structures
May 8-13, 2011 - Chongqing, China
Welcome http://www.iwais2011.cqu.edu.cn/
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I am honored to welcome you to the 14th International Workshop on Atmospheric Icing of Structures (IWAIS 2011), which is organized by Chongqing University, China, and co-organized by China Electric Power Research Institute, China Southern Power Grid Technology Research Center, University of Quebec in Chicoutimi (UQAC), Canada, and Chongqing Electric Power Corporation, China. IWAIS 2011will be held in Chongqing, China, on May 8-13, 2011. The conference is sponsored by State Grid Corporation of China and China Southern Power Grid, and is technically supported by Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering and National Natural Science Foundation of China.
At the beginning of 2008, a large scale and disastrous ice event that hit Southern China had serious socioeconomical consequences. As a result, researchers in all fields began to pay much attention to icing phenomena and to anti/de-icing methods. Many events and academic topics on icing need to be discussed among experts and scholars from all over the world, which motivates the organization of this conference. We hope that this conference will not only strengthen the international cooperation and attract more international participation in the study of the mechanisms of ice disaster and its prevention, but that it will also provide an international forum for the people involved in that field.
Chongqing University has accepted to host this workshop on an unprecedented scale, and be sure you will be provided an excellent service. Moreover, the High Voltage Engineering Journal has agreed to select and publish the best papers of the conference.
Chongqing is the newest municipality directly under the Central Government, and a window on the development of China. It has a long history as well as a many scenic spots and historical sites, including the world-famous Three Gorges along the Yangtze River. We are looking forward to seeing you in the beautiful mountainous city of Chongqing. I am sure IWAIS 2011 will definitely be an unforgettable and pleasant experience for you.
