GDDC 2016 - Workshop on Game Development and Design in the Cloud
Topics/Call fo Papers
Cloud computing harnesses a tremendous amount of potential to further expand the creativity and imagination of game developers. The use of virtualised servers for Massively Multiplayer Online Games has become more a common practice. In recent year, we have also seen the emergence of work related to Gaming-as-a-services (GaaS) in both industry and academia. However, GaaS currently is more commonly utilised as a software delivery platform. Cloud computing is yet seen as a development platform in the same way as game consoles, mobile devices and PCs. This means that game engine architecture and development process have yet to fully exploited the potential of this resourceful platform.
This workshop aims to explore the potential of treating cloud computing as a development platform; and to examine the advancement that can be made to the existing state of game development approaches. We encourage submissions on theoretical as well as experimental studies related to all aspects of game development and design on a cloud computing platform. Topic of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
General game engine architecture targeting cloud computing platform
GPU virtualization for graphics applications including virtual reality and games
Networking for cloud games
Real-time rendering
Game AI
Enhance quality of services/Quality of experience
Asset creation and management
Asymmetrical game mechanics design
