Immersive environments and 3D interaction give new form to explorations in both research and creative work. Due to recent hardware and software improvements, opportunities for collaborations between artists and the mixed reality (MR) community are greater than ever. The goal of this workshop is to foster interdisciplinary efforts and to promote artistic MR applications and interpretations. We encourage submission and presentations of research papers, visual artifacts, and live demonstrations related to the creation of immersive arts exploring 3D interaction, immersive sensory displays, reactive environments, presence, and other potentials for artistic framing of mixed-reality experiences.
The workshop is designed to broadly appeal to anyone interested in exploring, experiencing, learning about, or discussing the role and application of immersive technology, 3D user interaction, and mixed reality for artistic purposes. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Artistic applications of virtual, augmented, or mixed reality (VR/AR/MR)
Artistic applications involving 3D interaction
Creative, engaging interaction and experiences
Multi-modal experiences
Physical, tangible, or body-based interaction
Ambient displays
Interactive storytelling
Virtual environments as an aesthetic medium
Virtual performances
