There are many forms of ethical behavior, and it is good to know what they are when performing the required tasks of the EHS function.
This session discusses those forms, plus outlines situations in which ethics play an important part of decision making, both from a professional and a personal perspective. The session also covers situations that the participants have experienced (without giving away names of people or organizations), and the way they were handled and what the results or consequences were. The session also covers a "value system"

I will share MY story with you as a part of this presentation. From my perspective.

An ethic can be "right" or it can be "wrong." The moment of truth comes when pressure comes from

A relative
From within ourselves
Do we see things as black or white?
There are four questions we need to ask ourselves for ethical clarity
Is it the truth
Is it fair to all
Is it free from harm
Am I proud to do it
An erosion of standards leads to erosion of values. This discussion is about our "core values" and how they interact with our ethics.
Why should you Attend:
The question of professional ethics is a constant element of the EHS practitioner's world. The function of safety, health or environment all have grey areas that need to be transformed into black or white, and the only way to do that is to operate from a value system based on ethical principles.
This presentation will provide a framework for establishing or reinforcing a code of ethics within the individual who is exposed to those "grey areas" in the workplace and at home.

James Thatcher the owner and President of Global Safety Solutions, LLC, headquartered in Divide, Colorado. Dr. Thatcher has 35 years of experience in the Oil and Gas, Metals/Minerals and Chemical industry, with management positions in engineering, operations, human resources, safety, health and environment, as well as training and security.
He has a MS in mechanical engineering, and a Ph.D. in psychology/organizational development. He has had many articles published in the Occupational Hazards Magazine, the VPP Leadership Magazine, IADC driller magazine, and through several organizations such as the National Safety Management Society and the World Safety Organization. He has presented at many seminars, summits, conferences, and association meetings for many years.
