CoCoNet8 2016 - Eighth Workshop on Cooperative and Cognitive Networks (CoCoNet8)
Topics/Call fo Papers
The scope of the CoCoNet8 workshop is to bring together a highly qualified group of people with interest in
cooperative and cognitive wireless networks for 5G communication systems. Cooperation is a major subject in
research in the wireless communication community as it has been identified as one of the underlying principles
for future 5G wireless (e.g. D2D communication) and wired (e.g. WebRTC) communication systems.
Cooperation, altruistic or non-altruistic, is the basis to break up the cellular concept and enrich it by multi hop,
peer-to-peer, or cloud functionalities. The workshop will highlight the newest trends in this emerging area,
complementing it with first practical implementations and demonstrations in this field. New technologies and
concepts such as network coding and mobile clouds are the driving forces for cooperative and cognitive
networks. Besides the technical insights, and as in the previous meetings, the CoCoNet workshop is planned to
serve as an active discussing and networking forum for participants. The workshop is seeking papers for oral
presentations and papers which will be presented in interactive poster sessions possibly accompanied with
demonstrations or test-beds.
Topics of Interest
- Cooperation and Cognition Principles in 5G Communication Systems
o Wireless Mesh (Car2Car, IoT, etc)
o Mobile Cloud
o Social Networks
o Mobile Crowd Sensing
o Distributed Communication and Storage
o Energy Efficient Cooperation
-Techniques supporting Cooperation and Cognition e.g.
o Network Coding
o Compressed Sensing
o Wireless Technologies (Radio, Optical, etc.)
- Standardization activities (3GPP, 5GPP, IETF, etc) around Cooperation and Cognition
o WebRTC
o Device to Device IoT
o Multipath Communication
