IEEE 1st Workshop on 5G & Vertical Industry
In conjunction with IEEE WCNC 2016, 3 April, 2016, Doha, Qatar
http://www.ctr.kcl.ac.uk/5G2016/WCNC/
Faced with an ever larger portfolio of applications to serve and with a corresponding number of requirements to satisfy, it is now commonly recognized that future networks will have to consider requirements by vertical sectors from the onset. This workshop aims at fostering the interactions between the telecommunication sector and the potential users, to further trigger the wide-scale adoption of 5G systems in vertical industries. The goal is to establish closer structured links between the various communities towards a common understanding of the set of requirements of the various sectors and how these translate into design, architecture, technology, and performance requirements, such that 5G adoptions may become a reality across the largest possible user communities. To this end, this workshop cordially invites researchers to share latest research insights and present key and emerging results that elaborate the communication needs of various verticals and analyze gaps in existing technologies, which should be closed by 5G. Technical papers describing recent research results and controversial but substantiated opinions that may influence the direction of future R&D work are solicited. Research topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following topics:
Verticals' Requirements from 5G
? Network capabilities, structure and management
? High Speed, Low latency and high reliability communications
? Connectivity requirements
? Distribution Automation or Feeder Automation Applications
? Management and Control of distribution network components
? MTC Communications
? Device to Device for low latency communications
? Short range communications for medical devices
