“Advances in Multimedia Services over Emerging Wireless Networks”

Scope:
The advances of emerging wireless networks and new multimedia technologies have inspired more diversified multimedia applications and services. It can be seen that the emerging wireless networks will make possible a new generation of multimedia services and applications. The objective of this special issue is to gather the state-of-the-art and future-oriented research contributions that focus on the applications, architectures, and protocols developed for emerging wireless multimedia services. This special issue solicits high-quality theoretical and practical research on the landscape of recent advances in multimedia services over emerging wireless networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following:
? Emerging standards, technologies and novel paradigms for wireless multimedia services
? Multimedia delivery over 3G, 4G, ad hoc & sensor networks, WMN, WLAN, WMAN, and hybrid networks
? Multimedia services over VANET, DTN, wireless P2P network, and cognitive radio networks
? Wireless multimedia services for e-learning, e-commerce, e-entertainment, e-health, smart-home, social networking
? Mobile multimedia applications and services
? Real-time multimedia applications and services
? Multimodal services and applications for wireless multimedia networks
? Adaptive, context-aware, location-based wireless multimedia services
? Cross-layer design for wireless multimedia applications
? Service discovery : protocols and frameworks
? Resource allocation and QoS provisioning in wireless multimedia applications
? Audio-video surveillance and other privacy & security-related applications
? Case studies, test beds, field trials and evaluation of novel wireless multimedia services
? Recent trends in emerging wireless multimedia services and applications
