The IEEE International Symposium on Software Reliability Engineering is the premium conference in the area. Over the past 20+ years we have grown to be recognized as the voice of software reliability. From its humble beginnings in 1990, it has become a conference that has a unique element to it. It has a strong research and industry participation. Something that we do not see very often. Often, there are research conferences that are academically centered. And, there are industry conferences that hardly have any research and academic participation. We have both! And in recent years our data tells us that we are almost evenly split. A huge accomplishment for any conference. This was not an accident. The core leadership of the conference aimed for this and created several initiatives to head towards this goal. That we are actually approaching this target is of immense satisfaction to us. Our thanks are to you, the participant.
ISSRE focuses on the theory and practice of software systems reliability engineering. Research papers are extensively reviewed by a large program committee and the selected papers are coveted. An Industrial committee separately reviews papers for the Industry track looking for relevance and applicability. ISSRE has some of the best Industry case studies reported. We are also recreating the ISSRE Industry Workgroup - please contact us if you are interested in participating in it.
ISSRE Workshops have picked up considerable momentum. In 2008 we had over 100 participants in four workshops. Some of the workshop are becoming regulars - in that those communities meet year after year at ISSRE (Embedded Systems Reliability, and Software Rejuvenation). We hope to build these communities and seed new ones that are vital to current interests in Research and Industry.
The following are a few of the areas that ISSRE covers in papers, fast abstracts, workshops, tutorials, and keynotes.
Reliability, availability, and safety of software systems
Validation and verification, testing
Web 2.0 reliability, availability and security issues
Software quality and productivity
Software security
Dependability, survivability, and resilience of software systems
Systems (hardware + software) reliability engineering
Services reliability engineering
Open source software reliability engineering
Metrics and measurements, estimation, prediction of quality/reliability
Supporting tools and automation
Industry best practices
Empirical studies of any of the above topics
Open source software reliability engineering
Software as a Service, Cloud Computing and P2P specific issues
High volume consumer applications specific issues
