RTDI 2016 - Special Session on Recent Trends in Data Intensive Computing and Applications
Topics/Call fo Papers
This digital era has lead to the creation of gigantic datasets in most realms of science and engineering,
such as Geographic Information Systems, Medical Records, Weather images, Intelligence Agency videos,
e-commerce etc. The pace of data production is further expected to accelerate with the continuing
assimilation of computing into day to day life. Storing, sharing, managing, mining and extracting
knowledge and aggregating data for complex applications is becoming increasingly more challenging.
Thus, the conventional approaches to handle data may prove to be inefficient in dealing with the
enormity of the huge datasets.
Data Intensive Computing refers to capturing, managing, analyzing, and understanding high volume
data at a pace higher than that possible with the current technologies. This special session aims to provide
a platform where researchers in diverse areas can discuss issues and approaches to handle the problems
arising due to the ever-growing size and complexity of data. The session seeks to enhance the
understanding of the capabilities and limitations of data-intensive computing
