ICSSP 2015 - 2015 International Conference on Software and Systems Process
Topics/Call fo Papers
Modern systems consist of a complex mix of products and services ? legacy, bespoke, COTS, open source, licensed, and user-developed ? that must be designed to meet rapidly changing business needs. Business processes must be agile to capture and maintain customers with rapidly evolving needs, tastes, and desires. Systems technology and development methods must be responsive to business needs to continuously provide value in line with their costs. However, legacy and regulatory constraints, emerging requirements, enhanced interoperability, and the ascendancy of software have challenged system development processes. Just as systems are more necessary for business success, the ability to align systems and business goals and processes has become more difficult.
In the past, the processes and underlying principles of business, system engineering and software engineering have independently evolved and are represented by languages and concepts that are tantalizingly similar and yet seem to conflict. This has led to confusion and often friction between and among these critical conceptual constituents. The International Conference on Software and System Process (ICSSP) believes there is considerable value in the reconciliation of business, systems engineering and software engineering processes. To encourage amicable discussion and collaborative research into this area, ICSSP announces the call for submissions to ICSSP 2015 ? a proven forum for the exchange of research outcomes and industrial best-practices in process development.
ICSSP 2015 is seeking submissions of workshop proposals, tutorials, as well as full and short papers addressing research and industry best-practice related to the reconciliation of business, systems and software processes, grounds for process improvement collaboration, and consideration of all business and system stakeholders in the development and evolution of software and systems. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to:
Mechanisms for integrating technical, management, and financial processes to raise the probability of success
Processes for developing adaptive systems and re-engineering legacy systems
Empirical evidence of the effectiveness of Agile/Lean practices and approaches in software, hardware, and hybrid systems development and evolution
Process issues in developing adaptive and evolving software systems
Processes in non-software domains (e.g., business, health care, manufacturing, transportation, etc.) with a demonstrated relationship to software process challenges
Continuous process improvement in diverse areas and context
Distributed/Global development and large-scale processes
Processes for integrating COTS and Open Source components into evolving, long-lived systems
Process modeling, simulation and analysis
Process/Project management and assessment
Process metrics and tools
Cost estimation and project planning
Processes for cutting-edge software technologies, including (but not limited to) ubiquitous computing, cloud computing, multi-core technologies, and cellular technologies
Processes for approaching nanotechnology, constructed materials, and other software-like development activities.
Empirical studies and experience reports, encompassing complete or parts of software and systems development lifecycle
ICSSP 2015 is interested in contributions to this conversation by a wide variety of authors, researchers and thought leaders. We invite the following submissions:
Full papers that reflect completed and evaluated research on novel approaches to major software and systems engineering process challenges and in-depth experience reports of significance for the community.
Short papers that describe less complete work-in-progress research papers (e.g. Ph.D work research) or conceptual and position papers addressing open research questions and future research directions.
Posters for work that is not yet ready for publication but could be of interest to other researchers in terms of ideas, participation, or collaboration.
Workshops on relevant topics that leverage multiple participants. Papers provided in the context of workshops will not be included in the proceedings; workshop leaders may offer other means of publication if appropriate.
Tutorials on proven or proposed processes and practices of interest to the community by qualified individuals.
All accepted full and short papers will be published in the ACM Digital Library within its International Conference Proceedings Series.
Enhanced versions of the awarded best research papers will be included in a special issue of the Journal of Software: Evolution and Process.
