ECTS Credits
Participation in the Summer School offers attendance certificate and 4 ECTS credits upon completion of a report 6 weeks after the completion of the Summer School.
Presentation
The new era of communication systems and computer networking is moving towards 5G. 5G emerging technologies aim at the seamless connectivity of all types of devices, networks and communication protocols fulfilling the goals that have been set by the regulatory authorities and standardization bodies. In this way, technologies and services, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Smart Grid (SG), Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, Smart Cities, Smart Health and many more can be enabled providing improved Quality of Service (QoS) compared to the current networks.
The term "5G Networks" is a reference to the future networks architecture that has two fundamental characteristics; firstly heterogeneity, since 5G will embed a wide variety of different communication and network technologies, and secondly interoperability between these technologies.
Aegean-NetCom offers to participants a unique educational experience, as they will be able to interact and familiarize with academics and researchers of the University of the Aegean and the collaborating Universities, Research Institutes and Enterprises across Europe. The presenters have novel and innovative work in the field of networking technology with participation in national and international projects and publications in top-ranked journals. During the Summer School, a cross-sectoral scientific approach will be developed, composed primarily of the disciplines that need to be studied so as to proceed in the design and afterwards the development of devices and systems that will inevitably lead to the implementation of the 5G Networks.
Topis:
? Small Cells and Hetnets
? Energy and Network Optimization
? Cooperative Technologies
? MIMO Systems and TeraHertz Communications
? Cloud and Pervasive Communications
? Energy Efficient and Green Networks
? Cognitive Radio Systems
? Spectrum Management and Bandwidth Brokerage
? Network Technologies and Management
? Network Virtualization and Software-Defined Networks
Who should attend?
The Aegean-NetCom academic summer school is a 10-day course for undergraduate students in their final year, PhD students and IT/Network professionals interested in a comprehensive overview and broad coverage of the forthcoming “5G Network”.
Why should attend?
Aegean-NetCom will host several closely related lectures, workshops, labs and modules bringing together students, scientists, researchers, professors, engineers and service providers to exchange and share their experiences and new ideas focusing on research and innovation results under the theme ‘The 5G Breeze’.
Through the courses, all the attendants will have the ability to learn about the future trends in networking technology and empower their knowledge that will give them the opportunity to focus on a specific technological subject included on the wider field of networking.
Organizers
Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory, Department of Information and Communication Systems Engineering, School of Sciences, University of the Aegean
Registration
The registration fees for students are 200? (early-bird), to be paid via the Summer School’s website. They cover the provided documents, students’ bag, access to daily lunches and coffee breaks, one-day excursion, the social event and the welcome reception.
