geoinformation 2015 - Special Issue on Cloud/web mapping and geoprocessing services ? intelligently linking geoinformation
Topics/Call fo Papers
Guest Editors:
Bert Veenendaal (Curtin University, Perth, Australia)
Maria Antonia Brovelli (Politecnico di Milano, Como Campus, Italy)
Lixin Wu (China University of Mining & Technology, Xuzhou, China)
Planned publication date: winter 2015
Web and cloud based mapping and geoprocessing services are an essential infrastructure to integrate information to users and applications that require them. Although they are increasingly becoming commonplace, the challenge is to apply them intelligently in a useful and effective manner. Developments in web and cloud based service architectures, context-aware environments, multidimensional interactive geovisualisation, virtual globe geospatial analysis, and collaborative user-driven environments, are leading the way towards intelligent environments that link the appropriate information with the intended purposes.
You are encouraged to contribute to this theme issue by submitting your latest research and development in the areas of:
Design, development and evaluation of web and cloud based architectures, services and applications for intelligent mapping, multiple geospatial web services, geoweb semantics and ontologies, geospatial analytics, spatiotemporal analysis and online GIS
Mobile and ubiquitous geospatial services and applications with adaptive and context-aware processing and multidimensional visualisation
Virtual and collaborative geospatial environments and services for crowdsourced spatiotemporal data
Integration of open source solutions and open standards/specifications
Development and use of virtual globes for geospatial data integration, visualization and analysis
Investigation of social and organizational issues related to web and cloud-based services and collaborative environments
Novel online 3D/4D visualization and virtual reality technologies for representing and analysing dynamic phenomena in a web and cloud based environment。
This theme issue draws on (but it is not limited to) papers presented in the ISPRS WebMGS Xuzhou Workshop 2013 and the ISPRS Commission IV Symposium held in Suzhou in 2014. Papers in these subject areas that were not presented at the workshop are also welcome. Papers must be original contributions, not previously published or submitted to other journals. Papers published or submitted for publication in conference proceedings may be considered provided that they are considerably extended and improved. The authors of such submissions should clearly describe the differences.
Substantive research and relevant-for-practice papers will be preferred. Papers must follow the instructions for authors at http://www.elsevier.com/journals/isprs-journal-of-....
Please submit the full manuscript to http://ees.elsevier.com/photo/default.asp by 9 Jan. 2015.
Please select article type “SI:Cloud/Web Mapping” during the submission process.
