GISTAM 2015 - Special Issue on Open GIScience
Topics/Call fo Papers
Open science is transforming practice in a wide array of disciplines, from the increasing use of open source software, open data movements, open access publishing, to the way scientific communities are organizing themselves. Some have argued that this is leading to the emergence of a new form of science itself, one with enhanced integrity, reproducibility, and productivity. Yet, GIScience has been slow to engage with these developments. Building on a series of panels and workshops held at the 2014 AAG meetings, this special issue will bring together leading geographic information scientists and scholars to explore the implications of open science for the future of GIScience.
