IASS-IACM 2015 - 8th International Conference on Computational Mechanics for Spatial Structures
Topics/Call fo Papers
The IASS-IACM 2015 8th International Conference on Computational Mechanics for Spatial Structures, will be held on May 18-20, 2015 in Harbin, China. The conference is run by the School of Civil Engineering at Harbin Institute of Technology.
Following a successful series of conferences joint held by IASS (founded by Eduardo Torroja in 1959) and IACM (founded by Olek Zienkiewicz in 1981), this conference will continue to reveal the most recent research and new challenges in the computational modeling of spatial structures.
The conference will run over three days including the keynote lectures and presentations by the authors of all accepted papers. General and plenary sessions will be accompanied by organized technical sessions, round table workshops and technical tours. Accepted papers will be published in an international journal. For further information on the full program please see the conference website.
IASS - IACM 2015 is the 8th Conference of a series of meetings initiated by Working Group No 13 of Numerical Methods for Shell and Spatial Structures of IASS, which follows the very successful series of conferences: -7th Conference IASS-IACM, held in April 2-4, 2012 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organised by Ibrahimbegovic A., ENS Cachan, France,,- 6th Conference IASS-IACM, held in May 28-31, 2008 in Ithaca, USA, organised by Professor John Abel, Cornell University, USA - 5th Conference IASS-IACM, held in June 1-4, 2005 in Salzburg, Austria, organised by Professor Ekkehard Ramm, Universitat Stuttgart, Germany - 4th Conference IASS-IACM, held in June 4-7, 2000 in Chania-Crete, Greece, organised by Professor Manolis Papadrakakis, NTU Athens, Greece.
Calendar
October 15, 2014 Deadline for abstracts submission
Novermber 15, 2014 Notification of final acceptance
December 15, 2014 Deadline for early registration
January 15, 2014 Deadline for full paper submission
Themes and Topics
To address a broad interpretation of “Shell and Spatial Structures” the 8th Conference will include presentations regarding computation for any longspan, lightweight, fabric, or thin-walled structures:
§ at a variety of spans,
§ in a diversity of application fields, and
§ in both technology and nature.
In addition, the themes of the conference sessions will include most of those addressed at the 7th Conference but with new emphasis on the related areas of
§ analysis, design, testing of spatial structures,
§ blast and impact loadings,
§ earthquake simulations,
§ CFD in structural analysis,
§ computational morphogenesis, and
§ industrial applications/constructions
Topics carried forward from the 7th conference (held in 2012 in Sarajevo) include:
§ structural modeling (in particular of cables, rods, beams, plates, shells & membranes),
§ finite element technology,
§ innovative analysis methods,
§ innovative materials,
§ biological structures,
§ dynamics,
§ buckling,
§ contact,
§ fracture,
§ material modeling,
§ computational materials,
§ fabrics, laminates and composites,
§ reinforced-concrete and metal structures,
§ nano- and micro-structures,
§ interaction problems,
§ optimization,
§ form-finding,
§ solution methods,
§ mathematical foundations, and
§ advanced industrial applications.
Call for Papers
Prospective authors are invited to submit an abstract of up to 1 pages by September 1, 2014, containing the title of the proposed communication, the full address (including an e-mail) and the name of the corresponding author. The authors are encouraged to indicate to which main conference topic their contribution should be related. The prospective participants are asked to register online (conference website at http://iass-iacm-2015.hit.edu.cn/) and submit the abstract and full paper in the online system.
