DevelopingEM 2014 - Annual emergency medicine conference
Topics/Call fo Papers
DevelopingEM is a new direction in medical education, combining cutting edge training in critical care medicine, with a focus on providing a meaningful contribution to medical professionals in developing regions through an inclusive and philanthropic approach. All of our delegates are sponsors.
DevelopingEM is a not for profit organisation specialising in a practical clinical approach to the delivery of critical care education to medical professionals in the fields of emergency medicine, intensive care medicine, anaesthetics, and prehospital and retrieval medicine.
Visit our main site at developingem.com for weekly emergency medicine blog posts and conference news.
Program
The components will include an academic program, optional sessions and a social program. The majority of the program will have two way translation between English and Portuguese. The makeup of the program is currently being finalised by our program managers, but will include topics including Adult Emergency Medicine and Critical Care, Paediatrics, Trauma Medicine, Emergency Medicine in Brazil, and Emergency Medicine in Global Health. We hope to have several workshops during the conference in Salvador and also satellite workshops around the region coordinated by DevelopingEM.
Collaboration with Brazilian medical practitioners As with our model in Cuba, DevelopingEM is forging ties with local Brazilian critical care specialists and organizations in order to secure Brazilian involvement in both attending and presenting at the conference.
Sponsorship of Regional Delegates and Provision of Medical Hardware
Using the same model as in Cuba we hope to sponsor the attendance of all regional delegates at a ratio of at least two non regional delegate for every one regional delegate. We also hope to supply useful medical hardware to the region. As in Cuba this hardware is supplied by DevelopingEM with options to sponsor items being possible for non regional delegates.
Regional Workshops
Due to the overwhelming positive feedback from the ultrasound workshops at previous conferences, we have added a two day post conference workshop to the end of the Brazil conference this year. Presented in person by Drs Mike Mallin and Matt Dawson from the popular and innovative Ultrasound Podcast, it is sure to be an event not to be missed. Limited spaces available!
As always, we’ll focus mainly on the hands-on approach to capture the ultrasound experience.
To book, register for the conference today, and select the Ultrasound Workshop during the registration process. If you have already registered for the conference, email us to book your place. The cost of the workshop is USD $595.
