After the success of PPI's first ThinkTwice conference in Frankfurt1 in February 2014 we are happy to announce the start of of the preparation process for PPI's second international ThinkTwice conference 2014.
The aim of the conference is to bridge between the worlds of the Pirate Parties, Academia and NGOs to foster a mutual exchange of ideas and experiences that are worth spreading.
The conference is organized as a two day conference with talks and debates on parallel tracks. The sessions are being recorded on video and streamed live, the recordings are published after the conference on Pirate Parties International on Google+ and YouTube..
Pirate Parties International (PPI) is a non-profit international NGO with its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. Formed in 2010 it serves as a worldwide organisation for Pirate Parties, currently representing members from 45 countries. The Pirate Parties are political incarnations of the freedom of expression movement, trying to achieve their goals by the means of the established political system rather than through activism.
The PPI advocate on the international level for the promotion of the goals its members share such as protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the digital age, consumer and authors rights-oriented reform of copyright and related rights, support for information privacy, transparency and free access to information.
The name "Pirates" itself is a reappropriation of the title that was given to Internet users by the representatives of the music and film industries, and do not refer to any illegal activity.
The conference will offer space for up to 200 participants to emerge over the course of the two days into talks, presentations and panels focusing on the future and upcoming challenges. All sessions will be streamed and the video recordings published afterwards. The conference fee for the whole two day event is 25 Euro that will be collected at the entrance.
