OCEANS 2015 - MTS IEEE OCEANS conference and exhibit
Topics/Call fo Papers
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, we are pleased to welcome you to the MTS/IEEE OCEANS’15 GENOVA Conference, to be held in the historic harbour of the town of Genova, Italy, on May 18 ? 21 2015.
Jointly sponsored by the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES), the OCEANS conference and exhibit is the major international forum gathering together scientists, engineers, responsible ocean users and decision makers to present their cutting-edge research results, ideas, and applications in Oceanic Engineering and Marine Technology. The exchange of knowledge and the opportunities offered to new fruitful collaborations are crucial to the development of innovative technologies to meet the Blue Growth Challenge: harness the huge potential of the world-wide oceans for jobs and growth in a sustainable, environmentally conscious, and responsible way.
Genova, La Superba, situated in the middle of the Italian Riviera, has a long history of marine and maritime activities, dating back from the medieval times, when, as one of the Maritime Republics, had commercial and military fleets dominating the whole Mediterranean Sea. Cristopher Columbus, born in Genova, was the first great sailor of the age of discoveries, opening up the route to the New World.
Today, while rich from his glorious past (Genova has the widest medieval historic centre throughout Europe, and his Palaces are part of the UNESCO World Heritage), the town is close or hosts many of the most relevant high-tech marine and maritime activities in Italy, including civilian and military shipyards, joint industry-research technological districts, the Italian Navy Hydrographic Institute and bases, international research centres (CMRE) and Universities and National Research labs (CNR, ENEA, INGV, IIT). This makes Genova the ideal venue of the first time ever OCEANS conference and exhibit to be held in Italy.
A New Age of Discovery is starting to bring the potential of sea resources to the benefit of the future generations ? come to Genova, and offer your contribution!
