Shankara Research Center in Information Sciences (SHREIS), of Adishankara Institute of Engineering and Technology promotes, coordinates and fosters research and educational activities in medical imaging and related fields. SHREIS is engaged in Image Processing and Pattern Recognition for data classification of medical data such as medical images, using a host of data mining techniques such as Decision Trees (DT’s), Support Vector Machine (SVM), Genetic Algorithms (GAs) / Evolutionary Programming (EP). Over the last three years we have identified that there is a clear need for enhanced visualization techniques to assist medical professionals.
SHREIS is planning to host a two day conference in “Current Techniques in Medical Image Analysis” entitled CUTECMIA 2014 during August 2014. CUTECMIA 2014 shall strive to discuss the latest developments in information processing applied to clinical imaging, to support academic exchanges between the community of medical professionals and engineering researchers from blue-skies research to practical application, from university, hospital and commercial R&D, to nurture and encourage research contribution from PG students, junior researchers and leading members of the research community in this area of biomedical imaging.
Conference Themes in a nutshell
The conference intends to address aspects of image formation as well as processing and analysis in medical imaging, including systems using ionizing radiation (x-rays, gamma rays) or non-ionizing techniques (ultrasound, optical, thermal, magnetic resonance, or magnetic particle imaging.
Recent research regarding image performance, image reconstruction, detector materials and electronic design, analytical and computer modeling of imaging systems, and novel methods for image formation shall be show cased. The conference will try to cover predicted and measured system performance, including image noise and contrast, spatial and temporal resolution, and inherent artifacts of systems producing projection, tomographic, volumetric, dynamic, and time resolved studies.
The conference shall also bring together researchers involved in development and application of computer-aided diagnosis and detection systems.
Aspects of CAD, including segmentation, pattern recognition, feature extraction, classifier design, workstation design, human interaction, database construction, and evaluation and CAD methods involving any medical imaging modality including x-ray, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, molecular imaging, optical, ultrasound, endoscopy, macroscopic and microscopic imaging, and other multi-modality technologies shall be featured in this unique conference.
The conference shall also address problems related to image acquisition, computer-aided diagnosis, and quantitative image analysis of pathology specimens apart from discussions on challenges encountered in digital pathology imaging as well as in new approaches for image capture and analysis.
The conference also offers a forum for developers to exhibit their equipments, find new collaborators, and inspire the attendees.
