HydroGIS 2014 - 1st Workshop on GIS and Hydrologic Modeling
Topics/Call fo Papers
Having in mind the global climate changes and the fact that many areas are exposed to different kind of natural disasters (floods, droughts, open land fires, forest fires, extremely high temperatures, earthquakes, landslides, heavy rains), the research on modeling and analysis of these extremely complex phenomena, possibly offering solutions and predictions related to this topic are very important and interesting. The aim of the workshop is to bring together researchers and developers from academia and industry in order to discuss current scientific and technical results on modeling such natural phenomena using hydrological and GIS techniques. The workshop welcomes submissions of original, high-quality papers reporting on models or systems that have been or are being implemented. Experience reports and application demonstrators are particularly welcome.
Topics
Specific topics of this workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:
+ Analysis and manipulation of geospatial data;
+ Processing satellite images;
+ Geoprocessing;
+ Forecasting;
+ Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modelling in natural disaster predictions
+ GIS techniques for predictions
+ High Performance Computing in hydrologic data processing.
+ Object based image analysis
+ Earth Observation Data Repositories
Paper Submission
We invite submissions in the form of:
+ research papers,
+ extended abstracts
Papers of up to 8 pages must be submitted electronically through EasyChair (https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=synasc...).
Research papers must contain original research results not submitted and not published elsewhere. Authors which want to present work in progress or discuss new aspects or a survey of their older research results at the workshop are welcome to submit an extended abstract (up to 4 pages). Papers will be refereed and accepted on the basis of their scientific merit and relevance to the Workshop topics
Publication
Extended/revised versions of the best papers presented at the workshop will be included in the SYNASC post-proceedings. Other publishing opportunities in journals will be announced later.
