This workshop will cover hands-on experience in conducting research to uncover user insights and to use it to designing product or service experiences. The one-day workshop will be divided into two phases: 1) uncovering insights and 2) designing experiences.
In the morning, we will introduce the principles of conducting research to get valuable user insights. We will give a design problem to the participants. Participants work in teams to plan their research to discover insights about the users on a given problem. They have one hour to go to the field to conduct their user research. When the participants come back from their field trip, we will guide them to extract insights from their findings.
In the afternoon, the teams will brainstorm ideas to solve the design problem based on the user insights. We will introduce creative tools to help the ideation process. The teams will then sketch and prototype their ideas, so they can show how it works and test it with potential users.
Throughout the workshop, the participants will learn the complete cycle of the user experience design process by going through it themselves. We will guide the process and share tips based on professional best practices.
