This will be an experientially-based presentation. Mindfulness and Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction will be explained and recent research on mindfulness will be interwoven in series of mindfulness meditation exercises, followed by mindful inquiry (discussing the personal results of the exercise for individual attendees). Attendees would learn basic meditation techniques for beginners, as well as the most recent information on performance and brain-related research associated with mindfulness. Mindfulness training has been found to assist with decreasing anxiety, coping with stress, regulating emotions, and mitigating pain, as well as strengthening the immune system and increasing regional brain gray matter density. Discussing these findings, and the impact of mindfulness in the workplace will make this an interesting and different workshop!
