Special Section on Discrimination and Violence against Women (Volume 27 Issue 2, July 2015)
Guest Editor: Bibhas Saha, University of East Anglia, United Kingdom
The Journal of Interdisciplinary Economics plans to publish a Special Section on Discrimination and Violence against Women in its forthcoming issue, Volume 27 Issue 2, 2015.
We invite research articles on discrimination, abuse and violence targeted against women, at home or at work. The analysis can be based on any of the following approaches (or a combination thereof): economic, sociological, political, historical and legal. In particular, contributions focusing on violence, including gang rape or genocidal rape, and domestic abuse are encouraged. Contributions on labour market discrimination are also welcome.
The authors may focus on questions like the following: Why does violence against women occur? What remedies can be taken? Are anti-rape laws ineffective in deterring such crimes? What are the effects of violence against women on their children and household? Does labour market discrimination or work place sexual harassment discourage women from working? How do we measure the risk of sexual harassment? Why do we see genocidal rape in any military, ethnic or religious conflicts?
The research can be field work based (as in a case study), theoretical or econometric (large data set based). The context of the study can be a specific country or region, or cross country, or global.
Aspiring authors are requested to initially send in a brief proposal (not exceeding 1000 words) and after the review and acceptance of these proposals, full papers (not exceeding 8000 words) are to be submitted
Submission of Proposal: May 31, 2014
Notification to Authors of Accepted Proposals: June 15, 2014
Submission of Final Paper: December 31, 2014
Proposals submitted to the special section should be emailed to jie-AT-sagepub.in by May 15, 2014, and will be subject to the standard reviewing process of the journal. The email submission of the paper should indicate as its subject the Special Section Title, “Discrimination and Violence against Women”.
