1st International Electronic Conference on Polymers
Prof. Dr. Alexander Böker
I am pleased to announce the 1st International Electronic Conference on Polymers, which will be held on this special platform developed by MDPI.
The conference will cover the following main topics, which will be chaired by well-known experts from the field:
New Developments in Polymerization Techniques
Complex Macromolecular Architectures
Water-Soluble Polymers
Enzymes in Monomer and Polymer Synthesis, Polymers from Biomass
Bioconjugates/Biohybrid, Biomimetic Polymers
Polymer Colloids, Nanogels and Microgels
Non-Covalently linked Polymers, Supramolecular Interactions
Blockcopolymer Self-Assembly in thin Films and Bulk
Polymers Triggered by External Fields (pH, Temp., light, etc.)
Polymers for Medical Applications
Multiscale Simulations in Soft Matter
This is the first time that such a conference will be held in our field and some of you may wonder about the usefulness of such an event. From my point of view, I consider this a nice opportunity to discuss upcoming topics in Polymer Science in a relaxed environment.
The platform will give you the opportunity to get in contact with specialists in the field from all over the world without the usual hustle of a big conference everyone knows.
The 1st International Electronic Conference on Polymers is sponsored by MDPI and the open access scientific journal Polymers.
I am looking forward to focused discussions and new impulses for the field and welcome all participants.
Best regards,
Prof. Dr. Alexander Böker
Chair of the 1st International Electronic Conference on Polymers
Editor-in-Chief of the Journal Polymers (Founding Editor-in-Chief)
Chair of Macromolecular Materials and Surfaces (IPC)
RWTH Aachen University (Aachen, Germany)
DWI at RWTH Aachen e.V.
Alexander Böker holds the Chair of Macromolecular Materials and Surfaces at RWTH Aachen and is Co-Director of the DWI an der RWTH Aachen e.V. He studied chemistry at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and received his PhD from Bayreuth University in 2002 working with Prof. G. Krausch and Prof. Axel H.E. Müller. From 2002 ? 2004 he was a postdoctoral fellow with Thomas P. Russell at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In 2006 he received a Lichtenberg-Professorship funded by the VolkswagenStiftung. Besides being Founding Editor-in-Chief of Polymers, Alexander Böker is Member of the Reimund Stadler Minerva Center for Mesoscale Macromolecular Engineering in Beer Sheva, Israel, Member of the International Advisory Board of Macromolecular Chemistry & Physics (Wiley-VCH) as well as the Editorial Board of Colloid & Polymer Science (Springer) and Polymer (Elsevier).
He published more than 80 papers in peer-reviewed journals which were cited more than 3500 times. The main research interests of his group include guided self-assembly of block copolymer systems, hierarchical (bio)nanoparticle assemblies and the control of self-assembly processes via external fields.
