Purpose, significance, and a general description of this Special Issue
In recent years, we have witnessed a rapid development of wireless and mobile communication and networking technologies which have a significant impact on our lifestyles and the way we run our businesses. To support the proliferation of smart end-user equipment, it is necessary to improve the state-of-the-art techniques in wireless and mobile communications in order to provide quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees among end-users and achieve a high quality-of-experience (QoE) for end-users.
Today the Internet users have paid more attention to requested contents/services and are more concerned about the efficiency, reliability and security of acquiring contents/services, rather than their locations. To address this new communication paradigm, many challenging issues have arisen such as content/service based naming and localization, on-demand and dynamic dissemination/migration, optimization of content transmission, etc. This special issue is devoted to the most recent developments and research outcomes addressing the related theoretical and practical aspects on wireless and mobile computing and communications in content/service oriented networking architecture.

Content/service based naming to support massive numbers of mobile end-users
Context-aware virtual machine migration for content/service oriented networking architectures
Content dissemination in the mobile communication environment
Cognitive radio networks with spectrum/users context awareness
Network behavioural modelling under dynamic context/service conditions
Mobility context adaptation for seamless handoff
Protocol design, modelling and evaluation for content/service oriented networking architecture with mobile end-users
Content/service transmission over wireless and mobile networks and the QoE supporting issues
Green communication design for content dissemination to support mobile computing
Resource management and policy control for content/service oriented networking architecture with massive mobile end-users
Characterization of traffic and mobility patterns in content/service oriented networking architecture
The architecture design for content/service oriented networking to support massive numbers of mobile devices
Testbed developments for content/service oriented networking
Security, trust and privacy issues for content/service oriented networking architecture to support mobile computing
Submission Details
All received submissions will be sent out for peer review by three experts in the field and be evaluated with respect to the relevance to this special issue, level of innovation, depth of contribution, and quality of presentation. Guest editors will make an initial determination of the suitability and scope for all submissions. Papers that either lack originality or clarity in presentation will not be sent for review and the authors will be promptly informed in such cases. Submitted papers must not be under consideration by other journals or publications.
Authors should follow the Computer Networks manuscript format described below at the journal site: http://www.elsevier.com/journals/computer-networks.... The submission must be clearly written and in excellent English, with a maximum page limit of 25 pages. If the paper was published in a conference, the submitted manuscript must be a substantial extension of the conference paper. In this case, authors are also required to submit their published conference articles and a summary document explaining the enhancements made in the journal version. Manuscripts should be submitted on line through http://ees.elsevier.com/comnet/ and select "Mobile Computing" as the article type. A copy of the manuscript in PDF file should also be sent to the guest editors via the email at sielseviercn-AT-gmail.com.
