As you remember, the first European Conference on Interventional Oncology ? ECIO 2008 ? organized by the CIRSE Foundation in April 2008, was a great success. The scientific content, the quality of the presentations, and the overall number of delegates who attended the meeting exceeded even the best expectations. Even more important, the “atmosphere” of the conference was very lively, with interventional radiologists and oncology clinicians facing each other in the scientific debates and the workshops.

In order to cater to the growing number of interventionists involved in oncology, the CIRSE Foundation is organising another meeting dedicated entirely to Interventional Oncology: the second European Conference on Interventional Oncology ? ECIO 2010 - will take place on April 21-24, 2010, again in Florence, Italy.

The scientific programme of the conference has been further expanded with respect to 2008, in view of the growing number of novel clinical applications and the many innovative techniques that have been recently introduced. Conference attendees will have the opportunity to choose from several special focus sessions and workshops covering the entire spectrum of oncologic interventions.

Leading experts from around the world will present both, well-established and new, promising therapies of this exciting and rapidly evolving field. In response to the increasing role of imaging techniques in proper patient selection, tumour targeting and treatment monitoring, the conference will feature newly introduced special sessions focused on advances in cancer imaging.

The conference venue is located in the historical city centre of Florence and all congress hotels are within walking distance. This will give the attendees the opportunity to spend free time visiting some of Florence’s world renowned monuments and art galleries.

We believe that the ECIO 2010 will be another top scientific and educational meeting and a great opportunity to get together with old friends and meet new colleagues.

A presto a Firenze!
